10 New Year’s resolutions for naturally beautiful skin

For naturally beautiful skin in 2018, here are 10 New Year’s resolutions you’ll actually want to keep.

  1. Hydration with flavour

We all know the score: drink at least two litres of water each day to cleanse and hydrate your body. But what if you find it a struggle to chug down eight glasses of water? Mix things up by sipping herbal teas and sparkling water, or filling a large jug with water, ice and refreshing fruits and herbs, such as cucumber and mint, or lemon and ginger for a subtle hit of flavour with no added sugar.

  1. Eat good fats

Not all fats were created equal. Give your skin a natural glow by eating foods that are packed with omega 3s, such as salmon, avocado, walnuts and eggs. Thanks to their anti-inflammatory properties, omega 3s can help reduce redness and acne, giving you smoother, more youthful-looking skin. Your hair will benefit from omega 3s, too, improving circulation to the scalp for stronger, shinier locks.

  1. Make friends with exercise

It can be all too easy to see exercise as another chore that has to be crammed into our busy lives. In 2018, try reframing exercise as a treat to yourself – whether it’s a walk and a chat with your girlfriends, a dance class, or a hot yoga session – and you’ll soon be looking forward to these moments.

  1. Embrace antioxidants

You pack your morning smoothie with blueberries and kale, so why not embrace antioxidants for your face, too? Harness the natural power for organic rose hip oil to help fight the signs of ageing, reduce blemishes and scars, and hydrate your skin in just a few drops a day.

  1. Make sun protection a daily ritual

One of the best – and easiest – ways to prevent premature ageing is to protect your skin from the sun each day. Add an SPF 30 to your morning skincare routine, or use a tinted moisturiser that contains sun protection.

  1. Don’t forget your chest

As beauty writer Zoe Foster Blake says, ‘your face stops at your boobs’, so don’t stop at your chin when applying products. Generously smooth moisturiser and night restoring cream all over your face, neck and décolletage.

  1. Go natural

When you choose skincare products that are made from natural and organic ingredients, you’re not only getting naturally beautiful skin, you’re also helping the environment. The Blessed by Nature range of Australian-made skincare products contains natural plant extracts, essential oils and antioxidants, and there’s no animal testing.

  1. Keep things simple

A good skincare regime doesn’t have to take hours out of your day. Follow our simple steps for daily beauty routines for normal-dry skin, combination-oily skin, and anti-ageing for affordable skincare in minutes.

  1. Treat yourself

Now that you’ve got your morning skincare routine down to a few minutes, pencil in some time each week for a spot of pampering. Whether it’s applying a purifying face masque while you soak in the tub, or giving yourself a mani-pedi using your favourite nail polish and a nutrient rich hand and nail cream, a little pampering goes a long way.

  1. Get your beauty sleep

With kids, a career and everything else that life throws at you, getting a solid eight hours sleep each night may sound like a dream. To set yourself up for a decent kip, put down your phone, close the laptop and switch off the TV at least an hour before bedtime. If you’re addicted to scrolling through your phone in bed (guilty as charged) switch it to Night Shift from 9pm onwards, cutting out the blue light that messes with our circadian rhythms.
