When you’re hot, then you’re cold

Winter in Australia is generally pretty bearable. Sure, we get a few frosty mornings and some heavy downpours, but compared to other parts of the world our cooler months aren’t too insufferable… until you open Instagram and see all of those envy-inducing snaps of your friends sunning themselves in Europe!

If you’re one of the lucky ones (such as our ambassador Anna Heinrich, who has just returned from her wedding in Italy and a ‘matemoon’ in Turkey and Hungary), and are currently reacclimatising to Australia’s winter weather following a stint in sun-kissed Europe, then you may find your skin is acting up a bit.

It’s not just the long-haul travel that can wreak havoc on your complexion (discover five holiday skincare essentials for busting the jetlag blues). The transition from cold to hot to cold again can leave your skin reeling!

So, if you’ve just returned from a European sojourn, keep that holiday glow alive with these transseasonal skincare tips.

Embrace the good oil

Chances are, you’re returning home with a few things you didn’t count on… and we’re not just talking about those holiday kilos or that splurge from Dolce & Gabbana. Dry skin, breakouts and sun damage can all make an unwelcome appearance following a trip abroad. For an all-natural all-rounder that will tackle redness, blemishes and flaky skin, apply a few drops of Wild Harvested Organic Rose Hip Oil to your face, neck and chest each morning and evening.

Up your antioxidants

Gorged on pasta, vino and gelti? We don’t blame you. But all of those extra carbs and sugars may now be showing on your face. Press reset on your diet by cooking nourishing soups packed with winter vegetables. Bone broths are particularly great as they’re loaded with skin-enhancing collagen. And don’t forget to give yourself an antioxidant boost from the outside in, using a rich Antioxidant Daily Renewal Cream in the morning, and an Antioxidant Night Restoring Cream before you go to bed.

Moisturise from top to toe

You want to make that Euro-summer glow last as long as possible, right? Well hopefully you laid the foundations by exfoliating before you started soaking up the sun, and now to keep your skin in tip-top condition, be sure to moisturise from top to toe every day, using a hydrating Beauty Elixir Botanical Body Lotion designed to lock in moisture (and that sun-kissed sheen).
